Why it matters
Most people don't know they have it
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness, and it often progresses without warning. In 2022, an estimated 4.22 million people in the United States were living with glaucoma, including approximately 1.49 million with vision-affecting disease. Many people remain undiagnosed until significant damage has already occurred, making awareness and early detection essential.
Health equity matters: Glaucoma disproportionately affects Black communities and other high-risk groups. Every contribution helps advance more equitable access to information, screening, and care.
